North Star Credit Union was one of more than 60 credit unions who spread kindness and gave back to the community on Monday.

Staff participated in CU Forward Day on Monday, October 10 by volunteering across the region.

“We are so proud of the giving spirit by our staff who volunteered their time and energy on CU Forward Day,” said Jennifer Stedt, Interim CEO at North Star Credit Union. “It is an important value for our credit union to be involved in the community and give in meaningful ways.”

Staff participated by joining other local credit unions and volunteering with United Way of Northeastern Minnesota’s Buddy Backpacks and North St. Louis County Habitat For Humanity.

In addition, staff gave out $50.00 gift cards in the community. One staff member was able to give the $50.00 to someone who was standing next to a broken down vehicle and though it may not have been enough to fix the vehicle, it was enough to brighten a difficult moment and uplift our staff member’s day even more.

Another staff member choose a nonprofit organization. Residential services Inc., which has many adult foster group homes in the Virginia area. The recipients truly appreciated it and were very happy for North Star Credit Union for this gift.

One staff member gave it to her day care providers for all that they do in the community.

“We are thankful to have this chance to participate in this statewide annual event of giving kindness,” said Stedt.
