Dive Into Savings: Celebrate Youth Month with Our “Sea of Savings” Adventure!

April is National Credit Union Youth Month, a time dedicated to helping young members build smart money habits that last a lifetime. This year, we’re making a splash with our “A Sea of Savings” theme, designed to make learning about money fun, creative, and rewarding!

🌊 Making Saving Fun for Kids

Financial education doesn’t have to feel like a chore. With our underwater-themed activities, kids can explore the world of saving in a way that sparks imagination and curiosity. From friendly sea creatures to treasure chests full of coins, we’re helping kids see that saving money is an exciting adventure.

🏴‍☠️ Enter to Win a Treasure Chest!

We’re inviting kids to participate in our Youth Month contest for a chance to win a treasure chest prize! To enter online, participants can complete one of the following activities:

• Color the “Sea of Savings” page and share what they want to save for
• Complete the “Sea of Savings” word search
• Draw a picture of the treasure they want to save for

Once completed, entries can be submitted by April 30 for a chance to win. It’s a fun way to get kids thinking about their goals while learning the value of saving.

🏫 Bringing Financial Education to the Classroom

We’re also partnering with the following local schools: MIB, Cherry, N-K, North Woods, Parkview, Stowe to bring Youth Month into the classroom! Teachers can have their students participate in the same activities, and one student from each participating school will be selected, winning a treasure chest for their entire class.

It’s a great way to introduce financial concepts early while celebrating students’ creativity and participation.

💡 Building Lifelong Money Habits

Youth Month is about more than just fun, it’s about helping kids understand important financial concepts like:

• Saving for goals
• Understanding needs vs. wants
• Budgeting and spending wisely

By starting these conversations early, we can help set the next generation up for financial success.

We have a variety of youth accounts available at the credit union including the WINcentive accounts, where saving is a chance to WIN! Each $25 deposited (up to four a month) is an entry into monthly, quarterly, and annual drawings between $25.00 and $5,000.
