Credit Union members are reminded to not click on links that appear to come from North Star Credit Union.
Scamming is on the rise with members of other credit unions having reported receiving a text message that appears to come from the credit union.
In this particular scam, the text appears to be a link to the mobile login. However, this is a fake link. The link requests an image and the images are correct. Then, it requests three challenge questions answers.
Finally the user is directed to a page to obtain credit card information.
“We want our members to know that we will not send a text asking for credit card information or verification of identity,” said Jennifer Stedt, interim CEO of North Star Credit Union. “We want to keep our members safe and encourage them to reach out any time there is doubt.”
