Chisholm, Minnesota – On Monday, Oct. 13, area credit unions will join thousands of volunteers from across the state to give back and spread kindness in their community.
Staff from North Star Credit Union, Virginia Co-op Credit Union, Northern Communities Credit Union, and Embarrass Vermillion Federal Credit Union will team up to assemble Buddy Backpacks packed with nutritious food for local kids who need it most.
Every backpack in this program offered through United Way of Northeastern Minnesota means brighter days, fuller bellies, and a stronger community. These backpacks are given to children who are at-risk of going hungry over the weekends.
“CU Forward Day gives our team the chance to serve together and make a difference right here in our communities,” said Jennifer Stedt, CEO of NSCU. “Every backpack packed represents care and hope for a child, and that’s what our credit union spirit is all about. It’s even more meaningful to come together with other credit unions to share in this effort.”
CU Forward day is coordinated by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, the state trade association for Minnesota’s credit unions.
“As not-for-profit financial cooperatives, Minnesota’s credit unions work every day to improve their members’ financial well-being,” said Minnesota Credit Union Network President & CEO Mara Humphrey. “CU Forward Day represents credit union’s central value of ‘people helping people’ and is an excellent example of the credit union advantage.”
